Just this year, we have seen numerous attacks on politicians occur. From citizens sending ricin to the White House to protesters physically attacking Senators who have connections with President Trump.

It is fair to say that there is a war against politicians on both sides of the aisle.

There are too many incidents of violence against our nation’s lawmakers to count.

The big surge in recent years in the number of attacks on these prominent politicians can likely be attributed to the political divide in this country. It seems as though the gap between the two major political parties has been widening. However, with the candidacy and, now, the presidency of Donald Trump the entire gap has been completely widened to a breaking point. In our culture today there does not seem to be many people in the middle, politically speaking.

The divide is why we, as a nation, are seeing these attacks transpire on a daily.

The Ricin Sent to the White House

In September of this very year, the US Secret Service intercepted a package of ricin, that had been addressed to the White House, at an off-site location.
